- A team of final-year CSE and ISE students won the Smart India Hackathon 2023 in the software category.

“SIH was life-changing—we worked 36 hours nonstop and proved our skills,” says team leader Ashwin.
2. AICTE Innovation Challenge – Best Prototype
- A group of Mechanical and Civil Engineering students won the AICTE Innovation Challenge with a project titled “Smart Pavement Health Monitor” using embedded sensors.
- This is the best idea was appreciated for its relevance to India’s road safety needs.
- The team received mentorship from IIT alumni & a chance to pitch at the National Innovation Foundation.
“GIT’s labs and mentoring gave us the confidence to build a real working model,” said Keerthi, the project coordinator.
3. National Cultural Youth Fest – Dance Category
- GIT’s dance crew “G-Tribe” won first place in the National Youth Festival 2022 for group freestyle fusion dance.
- Competing against teams from top colleges across India, their energy, synchronization, and choreography stood out.
“Our practice sessions after class were worth every minute,” shared Bhavana from ECE.
4. SAE India Student Formula Design – Finalists
- Mechanical and ECE students formed a team and participated in the SAE India Student Formula Car Design Competition.
- Their custom-built electric go-kart reached the national finals.
- They showcased innovation in sustainable engineering & real-world vehicle testing.
“We started with just a sketch and ended up competing on a racetrack. That’s the GIT spirit!” said team mechanic Raj.
5. CodeQuest – National Coding Challenge Runner-Up
- Two third-year students from ISE bagged 2nd place in CodeQuest 2023, a competitive coding event hosted by a major IT firm.
- They solved algorithmic challenges in record time using Python & C++.
- Their success earned internship offers & media coverage in student tech forums.
“Daily coding practice and support from faculty made all the difference,” said Neha.
